In April, 2010, five people in my close circle of family and friends were diagnosed with cancers I was one of them.. By July, 2011, four of us were dead. This October, I will honor their courage and will to live by running my first half marathon, The Iron Horse Half in Midway, Kentucky.
When cancer failed to kill me, I resolved to work to help other cancer fighters in their battle to stay alive. The oncologists, nurses, and technicians at the Markey Cancer Center gave me the help I needed in spite of my lack of insurance. They couldn't have treated me better if I were the Governor of Kentucky. I am running to support the folks at Markey and their continuing work on behalf of all cancer fighters, whether they can pay for their treatment or not. Please contribute to my project so other patients can not just survive, but conquor in their battle against cancer.
The Markey Cancer Center Affiliate Network is a group of hospitals that provides high-quality cancer services and programs.
