BENEFITING: FRIENDSHIP CIRCLE
EVENT DATE: Nov 06, 2011
Recently I chose to take up running not only a great exercise but also as a hobby to start achieving some personal goals. One of those goals is to train and run in a marathon; but not just any marathon- The ING New York City Marathon.
My goal came to fruition when The Friendship Circle’s International Office was offered a team of 10 runners by the NYC Marathon organizers. I was fortunate enough to be asked to join that team by my good friend and founder of Friendship Circle, Rabbi Levi Shemtov.
My family has been involved with The Friendship Circle for over 17 years. With a dedicated core of 900 volunteers, The Friendship Circle enriches the lives of over 3,000 local families with special needs and 5,500 students with special needs from 169 schools. Recently, our daughter Rosie began begging Ronda & I to enlist her as a volunteer. Just this summer, she was paired up with a young girl that has Asperger’s Syndrome. I could not be more proud of Rosie’s giving heart and I could not be more proud of the growth that Friendship Circle has achieved since its inception.
It is on that note that I am collecting donations for my NYC Marathon team- The Friendship Circle. The more money that myself and my teammates raise, the better chance we have to secure more of these coveted spots in next year’s marathon and thus raise even more money for The Friendship Circle.
I will be running 26.2 miles with a goal of raising $26,200 for The Friendship Circle. Therefore, I am asking my good friends to consider donating in increments of $26. If you prefer to donate larger or smaller, please know that all support, regardless of what amount, is equally appreciated.
Thank you in advance for your consideration.
