Just 12 short years ago, Jacksonville was considered one of the worst cities in the nation for the killing of dogs and cats in shelters. As a result of our collaborative and comprehensive programs, aggressively focusing on targeted spay/neuter, adoption promotion and keeping pets in homes and out of shelters, Jacksonville is now considered one of the best. We have reduced euthanasia from more than 23,000 dogs and cats annually to under 2,000! Our programs are now the basis for our mentorship of other communities across the country. However, the death of even one healthy pet is a call for action.
We need to expand our reach to areas where animals are still dying in shelters and continue the momentum in our community. Opening a new clinic in an area with limited resources for pet owners and shelters will greatly increase our capabilities, enable low-income pet owners to keep their pets, reduce shelter intake and, most importantly, save lives.
Animals like Maximus need us, and we need YOU so we can help animals like him. Maximus was brought to our clinic by a Good Samaritan, possibly strangled and with trauma to his eye. Luckily, thanks to our Angel Fund, our vets were able to give Max the care he needed and stabilize him. He stayed with us for days while he recuperated. We asked our supporters and followers to help find Max a new loving family, which he now has!
Without our clinic, stories like this would not be possible. Thank you for supporting FCNMHP!
