BENEFITING: AMAZON CARES
EVENT DATE: Mar 16, 2014
Amazon CARES recruits veterinary volunteers from all over the world to perform free spay and neuter clinics for street animals in Peru's Amazon region, as well as pets of low income families. These animals are sick and helpless. Spaying and neutering these animals improves their overall health. Additionally, we provide all vaccinations and treatment for internal and external parasites. We improve the health of the animal population, and reduce the issue of overpopulation.
Due to the expense and time involved in traveling to Iquitos, Peru, the largest remote city in the world, it can be difficult attract qualified veterinary professionals. These volunteers not only leave their work and homes for two weeks, but they also must pay up to $1800 just to get to the volunteer location! Amazon CARES has lowered our trip costs so that volunteers only pay $700 for their two weeks with us. That includes all meals, lodging, and local transport.
We also must purchase medical supplies associated with the numerous mobile clinics we perform during these volunteer campaigns.
By making a small contribution to our March 2014 veterinary campaign, you can help Amazon CARES to improve the lives of hundreds of dogs and cats in Peru's Amazon region.
