BENEFITING: MALOTO INC
EVENT DATE: May 31, 2014
More than 300 children rely on Maloto's local partner, the Kwithu Feeding Center in Malawi, for their daily meals. Most are orphans who have lost a generation of parents to HIV/AIDS and this is their only source of food. Kwithu, which means "home", was founded on a promise to try and create a loving, supportive environment for vulnerable children. A dedicated group of women provide home cooked, hot and nutritious meals for hundreds of orphaned children, three times a week. Since its founding the number of children served has grown by over one hundred and we need to provide adequate funding so that we can continue to feed all. Food is just one of the nurturing services they provide for the local children, but it is perhaps the most essential. Without full stomachs, our children cannot grow and they cannot focus in school to learn and become future leaders. They are consumed with one thought – Where is my next meal? We estimate that a minimum of $10,000 is needed in the next three months to secure food for these children during what is known as “the season of hunger”. Please help us help them by sustaining our feeding program.
