The story isn’t simple but a simple act of kindness can help.
Nearly 10 years after a devastating civil war, the people of Sierra Leone still struggle to survive. Among all of the suffering, the ones who suffer the most are the children. In 2010, the UN ranked Sierra Leone on the Human Development Index as one of the least developed countries the world, with 76% of the population living under the poverty line of $2 per day. You can make a difference by helping the children of Bo, Sierra Leone grow up healthy and strong. What we are asking you to do is contribute to our Feed a Child campaign that provides children with life-saving sustenance which makes learning easier and builds the foundation for stronger more successful young adults.
According to 2010 UNICEF research, Sierra Leone has the highest child mortality rate in the world, and among the children who survive, 1/3 of those under 5 years old are malnourished. If steps aren’t taken to finding a solution to this crisis, “a large proportion of the next generation of children will not live up to their full physical and mental potential…Thereby restricting the potential social and economic development of Sierra Leone,” (UNICEF). Nearly ¼ of toddlers in Sierra Leone suffer from muscle wasting and stunted growth because their families lack the skills and tools to grow low-cost, protein-rich foods. We need your help to feed these impoverished children.
Your $20 donation goes a long way in Sierra Leone to feed the children. What a difference a small amount of money can make, saving lives and building change. Please consider donating to our Feed a Child campaign so the children of Sierra Leone can eat and become strong and healthy for their country.
