THE STORY:

"When I ask one mother why her child was not eating properly,
she answered: “We are poor. I do not have money to buy food.”

Honduras has become increasingly dependent on the world community for assistance in combating hunger, starvation, malnutrition, and poverty. Unemployment, gang violence, and abandonment of children by families with scarce resources also contribute to its overall landscape. Malnutrition is widespread in Honduras and infant and child mortality rates are high.

Major diseases that affect Hondurans include malaria, typhoid, influenza, tuberculosis and pneumonia. Honduras has also now been categorized as the Central American country with the highest number of HIV/AIDS infections.

I want to go into this country with enough money to start a farm. Nobody should be hungry in this world and even $15 can make a huge difference to a country in need as much as Honduras. With the dream of a farm in Honduras, I want to open an orphanage for all of the teenage girls who have been raped and have children and help them raise their kids. I helped run an orphanage exactly like this for one year 5 years ago and it now is my dream to run one of my own.

"Tons of people from North America are dedicating there time and truly making a difference in Honduras. All with niches, working towards a common goal. There are religious, non-profits and medical professionals alike all giving a 110% effort there. For more than two-decades volunteers from North America are making a difference, a huge difference. These countless volunteers and organizations have been working tirelessly to not only keep up with the challenges, but also lay a foundation for the future. The People of North America are rising to the occasion to make a better life for those who live in the Western Hemisphere, while in other places around the world many people turn a blind eye to what is going on in their own back yard, in their own nations and on their side of the world. It is time the World knew what was going on and what "WE" are going to do about it. The volunteers who go on these missions are the true heroes of humanity and their work, determination and powerful perseverance is proof positive that in the present period we can potentially wipe out human poverty. I'd like you now to ask yourself;

What Can I Do to Help Make Difference in Honduras?"

Honduras is in a state of poverty and needs any help it can gain. It is the second poorest nation in Central America and is in a state of poverty and corruption. The country still hasn't recovered from Hurricane Mitch in 1998 which caused $2 billion in damages and 90 percent of it's bridges and highway systems were destroyed.The hardest hit was it's agricultural system which still hasn't recovered.
