Feed & Educate Children in the Slums of Bangkok
Organized by: Jeanne Liston
I recently visited one of the most amazing women I've ever met. For nearly 25 years, Sister Joan Evans has lived and worked alongside some of the poorest families in the slums of Bangkok, Thailand. I volunteered with her 19 years ago and was lucky enough to return recently.
It is unbelievable that, at 83 years of age, Sister Joan is still feeding, clothing and helping to educate children on a daily basis. Her goal has always been to give children the opportunity to create a better life for themselves through education.
Sister Joan's programs include providing infant formula for babies whose mothers cannot breastfeed due to malnutrition and other constraints, and providing food, fares, fees and uniforms for schoolchildren. She relies on the generosity of countless individuals to help her with this important work.
You can help give a child a chance at a better life. A wonderfully generous friend has offered to match every donation up to $5000, so your gift will be doubled!
-$30* allows you to help one child living in poverty go to school with a required school uniform, shoes and a school bag.
-For $180*, you can provide vital infant formula for one baby in the Klong Toey slums of Bangkok for an entire year.
-$540* (less than $1.50 per day) provides one child with the transportation needed to get to school each day, along with breakfast and lunch for an entire school year, giving them the nourishment needed to learn while there.
*Remember, every gift will be doubled up to $5000. Your $15 will become $30!
Thank you for caring for underprivileged children in Thailand and for giving them the opportunity to break out of the cycle of poverty.
