BENEFITING: Feline Fix Foundation
Feline Fix Foundation is a 501c3 non profit in Dare County, NC. Founded in March of 2012, FFF has helped to sterilize over 400 community cats in Dare County. We have since founded the Community Cat Food Bank and OBX CARES, also in Dare County and to directly benefit the Dare County Communty Cats. Thank you for your continual support towards our rescue mission; we need you now more than ever. FFF manages a community colony of several cats. Kittens that were originally trapped by mistake and thought to possibly be tamed. Many of these babies were worked with for hours, day after day and yet would still run and hide or even hiss when potential adopters would arrive in hopes. The kittens stayed indoors until they were big enough to be fixed defend themselves. Although they were not 'feral' they needed other options beyond finding homes as pets. They were sterilized and released under my care as an outdoor colony. Since then, the colony has grown from 3 to 14, back down to 8 (and one kitten in the shed). Unfortunately, besides the contInual threat of the nearby highway, we now have a serious issue with coyotes and coy wolves, here and in our nearby counties . These coyotes were corralled down from the mountains over a year ago and brought to our area to control the deer population; it's true. Now they are killing the community cats in easily seen numbers. We are moving the FFF colony to a new home that will include wooded acreage several miles away from the highway. There is still a threat from wildlife, but not near the danger we currently have. There are many, fully sheltered areas, raised hills and places to quickly reach safety. The shelter (shed) will be relocated on pilings so it can better serve the outdoor colony. It will also house cats recovering from surgery as well as adoptable kittens. As well, fencing will also provide added protection. Please help FFF continue to serve our beloved community by humanely decreasing Dare County's free-roaming cat population. Your donation is tax deductible and will directly serve and benefit our community cats. Our Colony consists of Mama, Carhartt, Bunny, Elwood, Bobby, Margaret, Jerry, Cat Steve, Winnie and Uncle Peaches. Barry and Bayla have been missing now for over a week. Maynard, Titi and Christopher's Walkin all disappeared this past summer. We need your help to protect the Feline Fix Foundation Colony.
