BENEFITING: RHODE ISLAND 4-H CLUB FOUNDATION INC
EVENT DATE: Feb 08, 2014
Our 4-H robotics club consists of 7 middle and high school students located in the Foster-Scituate area of Rhode Island. We will be competing in the 2013-2014 FIRST Tech Challenge (FTC) this coming February. We placed well in the 2012-2013 challenge and won several awards at the state level.
For the 2012/2013 season, out-of-pocket costs for the team were about $2500, which covered robot parts, software, registration fees, etc. We expect similar costs this year, since the "challenge" the robot must complete is different, requiring a different design and many new parts. In addition, this year's season features a "super-regional" competition in Pennsylvania, followed by the Worlds in St Louis. So if we win in Rhode Island, we'll also need to cover travel expenses at least to PA.
Donations placed through this site go straight to 4-H in Kingston, RI, and then are distributed to our team to cover expenses. Since 4-H is a 501(c)3 organization, your donation is fully tax-deductible.
What is FTC?
Teams, including coaches, mentors and volunteers, are required to develop strategy and build robots based on sound engineering principles. Awards are given for the competition as for well as for community outreach, design, and other real-world accomplishments.
