I was in the Army for nearly 10 years before I was medically retired due to injuries sustained while serving. Since retiring in 2007 I have not been able to find gainful employment that paid for my level of skill sets. I along with other fellow Veterans are starting a Female Veteran focused but all are welcome Veteran training program.
The program that NYSE Euronext started was called Veterans Associate Program (VAP) NYSE hired 15 Veterans for an 8 week period and put us in our perspective areas of interest and paid us while we were working. This was the first program of its kind opening doors to Veterans of all backgrounds with or without education to get introduced to Wall Street and the financial world.
Myself and another Female Veteran in the program decided to start a non-profit that focuses on helping Female Veterans to enter into the work force into well paying positions. We would help by getting Female Veterans and any other Veterans asking for our help into organizations of all types to get the experience often wanted by employers despite the experience Veterans bring to the table.
So I am asking for funds so that myself and other Female Veterans can get this non-profit up and starting. The problem is we do not have any funds available to start the program from registering ourselves in New York City and finding a viable place to work out of along with equipment and other things that would be needed to get everything in order.
Any help would be greatly appreciated but we know this is a hard time for many and want to create a nonprofit to help the unemployed Veterans across America and for those Veterans Overseas as well. Before any of that can happen we need start up money and being in NYC unfortunately for us things are far from affordable for us since we do not have jobs ourselves. We are currently enrolled in MBA programs at Northeastern University and Columbia University. All help is welcome and appreciated. Thank you for your time.
