BENEFITING: Range Of Motion Project NFP
My new social enterprise, Clinica Schneider, is doing great in its first year. Since January, in spite of the recession here in Ecuador, with the commitment of many companies seeking to improve the dental health of their employees, we have treated 500 patients a month who otherwise would have no access to dental care. We use mobile dental clinics to reach people often at work sites far removed from medical services. Our company is solving a big social and health issue: 3 in 4 people here do not have adequate access to dental services.
We are commited to paving the way towards a brighter future. In doing so, we are commited to help improve the lives of everyone we touch. One of our dental assistants, Fernanda, is in great need of dental care herself. Fernanda is a 27 year-old Ecuadorian who lives in the south of Quito. She is our hardest and most dedicated worker. Given that we are a mobile clinic, Fernanda wakes up at 3:30 am most days to start delivering care to our patients by 7:30 am. Fernanda did not go to college and has never had access to dentistry. With your help, we will pay for a 6 month course to formalize her knowledge as a dental assistant and to ensure that this is a long-term career. Second, we will take her 27 year old smile, which has never had orthodontic intervention and redo her entire smile. This will entail two years of work, but will radically change her smile and her long-term dental health.
