Fifty water wells in one year
Organized by: Cally Wharry
Their aré many poor communities and villages where clean fresh water is in short supply. These are places that you dont see in post cards and travel brochures but exist in great numbers. Because of Panamás diverse geology ( a lot of rock) hand dug wells are tough at best and most times shallow and exposed to the elements making them dangerous open pits for disease carrying mosquitos. The good news is that their is a an ample ground water that can be found at or before around 100 foot depth. We intend to drill wells for these impoverished communities and the schools, and install hand pumps . We expect each well to have a total cost ,including pump, to be around $3000 and to directly benefit 100 people. Total benefit of the 50 wells should be around 5000 people. I can think of no better way to positively benefit peoples lives than to provide them with fresh clean water to drink ,cook , and clean with. Lets get to work!
