McKane Family Fund
Organized by: Joe McKane
Our son, Mike McKane, age 40, is fighting an incurable form of Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma called CLL (Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia), and we need your help.
It is a complicated disease and the treatment requires 6 months of chemotherapy. He is a fighter and has a wonderful attitude, but because of the treatment he’s often too sick to work and very susceptible to infections from low blood counts.
When he’s well, he’s able to work part time (25 hours a week) between treatments, for a small furniture manufacturer, where he finishes beautifully crafted furniture for people’s homes.
However, he is off for a full week of treatment and recovery every 28 days. His company does not offer sick time or temporary disability, so he leans on close family for help to pay the bills.
Mike is blessed with a loving family - his wife Mary, and beautiful (and active!) son Ronan (2 years), have been behind him every step of the way. Our family and Mary’s family are so proud of his perseverance and his positive attitude throughout this ordeal.
He is generous and compassionate, and no words can express how much we want to help ease the pain. We do what we can to support them, but his medical expenses are adding up. They are starting to fall behind on monthly bills, and they have used their savings.
While he does have health insurance, he will have to pay a $6,000 deductible this year beyond his $1,900 yearly insurance premium. He also has co-pays and child care expenses.
He needs financial help for his deductible, insurance premiums and lost wages. We are also asking for your help because his disease will return eventually. They are doing their best to stay on top of the financial burden now so that they might be able to stay on top of the costs the next time.
So far, Mike is doing well with his treatments and we expect him to be in full remission by Christmas…and in tip-top shape to support his family for many years to come!
Please help make this journey less of a burden on Mike and his family. Even a small donation will make a big impact. Thank you for your support!
