2016 was a year of such joy and such sorrow for us! At the same time we found out our precious baby was going to be a boy we also found out he had a very serious life threatening heart condition called hypoplastic left heart syndrome! I carried this sweet baby boy in my tummy for 35 blessed weeks and then the Lord allowed him to be born premature, with IUGR/HLHS/IAS, weighing 3lb 12oz, pink and screaming! We fought alongside our heart warrior from the day of his birth for 77 days! Our life and hearts were opened to a new life, a life with a baby with CHD. After two cath procedures, one open heart surgery, 3.5 days on ECMO, most of his life intubated, and growing from 3lb12oz to 8lb4oz, our sweet baby boy, Josiah Samuel, lost his earthly fight and was welcomed into Heaven by Jesus' loving arms! This has truly been the hardest road the Lord has called us to walk, but God has been so faithful and we are so thankful we don't walk it alone! He has carried us through every step of the way!
Because there were SO MANY ODDS stacked up against Josiah, early on we named his team of prayer warriors and family: "Fighting For Josiah"! It seemed so approrpiate as every day of Josiah's life was a fight and to the amazement of everyone he was one good fighter! Our little heart warrior stunned many, including several doctors and medical team personnel! We were often told "this wont happen, this wont work" but the Lord had other plans! And even though the Lord's final plan was to take Josiah home, we are so thankful for Josiah's life and every moment we had with him! So although Josiah's earthly fight has ended, our fight has not! The fight to continue putting one foot in front of the other, to spread the Good News of Jesus that has helped us along this journey, and the fight to spread awareness to CHD and the many many many families and children CHD affects!
PLEASE consider opening up your hearts to supporting this effort to helps support families suffering and battling for their little ones like Josiah!
