Fighting for what's right
Organized by: Candice Makki
Hi! I am a preschool teacher. Two years ago, a friend of mine introduced me to an investment opportunity abroad that earned a certain amount of interest. I decided to test the waters at first and it did give a certain amount of interest for over a year. My entire savings that I worked hard for was placed there. My family also joined the investment since it was doing well at that time. Last year, the head of the investment firm suddenly stopped giving out returns and made several excuses. Apparently it was another Ponzi scheme. We filed cases against this person but apparently she is still out roaming freely with almost $20 million of accumulated funds from different investors. I was left broke and is currently diagnosed with bipolar disorder. I still want to battle this condition, along with the cases that I have to file against her. I could just let it go but thinking that the person who scammed us is living in paradise with our money and I am left suffering is something I wouldn't tolerate. I know this might be the last resort I could think of, but I still do believe in the goodness of humanity despite everything that happened.
