BENEFITING: BORGEN PROJECT
EVENT DATE: Jun 01, 2016
I have always been interested in global issues, and developed a passion for volunteering and working for nonprofit organizations. UNICEF, Habitat for Humanity, and Help Darfur Now are just a few of the organizations that have fostered within me a desire to help those in need. Now as an HR intern at The Borgen Project, a non-profit organization that advocates for the world’s poor while working to make poverty a focus of U.S. foreign policy, I am kindly calling on my friends, family, colleagues, and all humanitarians alike to please donate to my fundraising campaign. My goal is to raise a minimum of $500 by June 1st.
The numbers can be overwhelming. Around the world, nearly 1 billion people are hungry, and one child dies every 3.6 seconds from poverty, lack of clean water, hunger, and preventable diseases. The poorest 20% of the world’s children are twice as likely as the richest 20% to be stunted by poor nutrition and to die before their 5th birthday. 2.7 million newborns worldwide die within their first month of life.
Please donate to support the cause and help me join the fight against global poverty. Remember, no amount is too small. All donations are tax deductible.
With over 200 volunteers throughout the United States, the Borgen Project operates through four major strategies: building awareness of global issues, educating citizens on basic advocacy, mobilizing people across the US to share their voice in Congress, and advocating to make poverty a political priority.
