BENEFITING: The USO
FIJI is proud to team up with the United Service Organization to host our philanthropy event, Man vs Machine. On Saturday, April 16th teams from across campus will participate in a Humvee push sponsored by the National Guard, with all proceeds going directly to the USO. In addition, we'll be participating in a pennies for pushups campaign the week before the event. We'll be logging each pushup recorded by students, faculty, and community members and are accepting pledge donations based on these pushups, again all donations going to the USO. The USO and FIJI have a long-standing partnership, and we're proud to consistently raise money for such a great organization. Each year the USO makes a meaningful impact on the lives of troops across the world, as well as their spouses and children. They do this by providing support to families of the deployed, sending "care packages" to the front lines with items from back home, and even scheduling video bedtime story times for those with young children back home. Our goal of raising $2,000 would provide up to 5,600 calls home via the USO's satellite telephone network, or 200 bedtime stories read to children missing their father/mother.
