EVENT DATE: Nov 21, 2013
The gentlemen of Phi Gamma Delta (FIJI) believe in combining the pillars of philanthropy, scholarship and competitive tradition to give back to their local community. The Mu Chapter at the University of Wisconsin-Madison and the Mu Sigma Chapter at the University of Minnesota, in conjunction with the American Red Cross, are hosting the 5th annual FIJI Rivalry Run to support the American Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund.
FIJI Rivalry Run
On November 21st, the men of the Mu Chapter of Phi Gamma Delta (FIJI) will embark on a journey to run the football for the game between the Wisconsin Badgers and Minnesota Golden Gophers. The Minnesota FIJIs will be meeting the brothers of the Mu Chapter at the University of Wisconsin in Winona, MN to receive the ball and complete the run from Madison to Minneapolis, a grand total of 272 miles. Just as the two football teams compete over the renowned Paul Bunyan’s Axe, the two FIJI chapters will be competing to raise funds for their respective area chapters of The American Red Cross for their own rendition of the famous axe. The 2013 FIJI rivalry run not only exemplifies the philanthropic values of The Fraternity of Phi Gamma Delta, but also plays on the deeply rooted tradition and competition that has existed between the two universities throughout one of the most storied rivalries in college athletics.
