BENEFITING: HARPSWELL COASTAL ACADEMY INC
HCA must close the gap between its government funding and the cost of educating its students. Charter schools are funded at about 80 to 85% of what traditional public schools receive for funding from State and local sources. HCA’s initial student body —60 students —currently supports all of the fixed costs that will be supported by three times that number of students by the year 2015.
Transportation is one of those fixed costs.
HCA needs reliable and safe transportation to get students to and from school, into the field to work with the Community Partners, and to extra-curricular activities in the students’ districts of residence.
