THE STORY:

"Healing Haiti" is short film documentary of the Bernard Mevs Hospital; the only Critical Care Hospital in Port-au-Prince, Haiti. I will be volunteering with Project Medishare as a Pharmacy Intern. The film will follow the experiences of the health care workers in the hospital, both native to Haiti and relief workers from the United States. The documentary will explore the unique challenges, services and skills needed in disaster relief work.

Through the experiences of the health service personnel, the film will bring insight into the lives of the Haitian patients and bring to light their realities in a way that cannot be understood through news broadcasts or internet images.

This documentary will bring about awareness of the plight that still exists in Haiti after the massive earthquake in January 2010. The country still remains in a state of emergency. This nation has been completely paralyzed. This project is a small way to bring about awareness that might inspire aid and help to bring this country back to its feet.

The funds raised through this project will pay volunteer expenses during the trip. Any funds beyond the goal amount will go toward supplies for Bernard Mevs Hospital and Project Medishare.
