Fred le Roux
Hi there, I am Fred and I have an online store called FineAfricanArts where I market products for over 200 African Art shops and Artists alike. I started this project close to a year ago when I stumbled across a African Arts and Crafts market called Chameleon Village. There were 200 shops with more than 100 000 item for sale which looked promising to start an online shop with. I inquired about there marketing strategies only to find out they have none and rely on walk ins from the street to purchase there products and the occasional tour-bus with tourists. After some negotiations I found that all the shop owners will assist me in marketing there works of arts and that they are very exited with the prospect of getting more exposure for their products. I started working 12-14 hours a day doing research on the products for descriptions in the site and did a whole campaign on different social markets. After two months I realized that I would need a small team of people to help me with this project. I only completed 500 listings and need to get to at least 5-10 000 to make a difference with the marketing, stocktaking and shipping to be added to the list of chores soon. The possibility to attend international Art Exhibitions also crossed my mind in order for people to see the product live. I did not know how I would find the money to do that and had someone mentioned fundraising to me and here I am. There will be a dramatic change to this 200 families lives if I can successfully complete this campaign. At the moment they hardly meet the most common human needs, and in the same breath I believe that there are extremely talented artists that deserve more than to just stay alive.
