The Story

EVENT DATE: Oct 07, 2018

DEADLINE TO GIVE: Oct 07, 2018

Streets Are For Everyone (SAFE) is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization founded in January of 2014.

Our mission is to aim to improve the quality of life for pedestrians, bicyclists and drivers alike by working to reduce traffic caused fatalities to Zero.

SAFE addresses this problem in a holistic fashion through direct education, broad awareness campaigns, partnerships, community outreach, policy and legislation, support for those impacted and other proven strategies.

Dedicated SAFE staff and volunteers with a combined 75 years of experience in the non-profit sector have, in the short time since establishment, changed the face of traffic safety.

About SAFE programs:

1. SAFE Support -- the nation's first support system for victims of traffic collisions. This program is currently active and spreading across LA County. With 52,000 people sent to the hospital or killed each year just in LA County, this is a VITAL program for the people of L.A. The only thing that hinders it from reaching EVERY hospital emergency room in L.A. are the resources. By supporting SAFE Support, you are helping those directly affected by the #1 killer of young adults in the US -- traffic collisions.

2. Streets, Art, SAFE -- a cutting edge program to educate high school students on traffic safety through the arts. Streets, Art, SAFE is a multi-school competition in which Hollywood filmmakers mentor High School students on producing traffic safety PSAs. Students not only learn about making safer streets, including good and bad driving habits, but they also learn how to make video, team leading skills and how to convey an effective message. The winning team will receive prizes and their school will receive an arts education grant. In its third year, this program is expanding -- the more resources available, the more schools and students take part.

3. Legislation and Policy -- With the help of local and state legislators, SAFE has spearheaded 5 different policy changes to increase penalties for hit and run criminals and give law enforcement additional tools to help catch those who commit hit and runs.

4. Media and Awareness Campaigns -- SAFE media and billboard campaigns have reached millions. In fact, our work has directly resulted in close to 250 million people reached regarding the importance of traffic safety and handling hit and runs in Southern California.

Please help SAFE take their programs further and help save lives -- Fundraise or donate TODAY!
