262 WITH DONNA THE NATIONAL MARATHON TO FINISH BREAST CANCER
On June 8, 2011 my mom was diagnosed with breast cancer. Statistics show that 1 in every 8 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer. That is too many mothers, wives, daughters, sisters, and friends that have to hear those terrible words "You have cancer."
My mom is a devoted runner. She has run a total of eleven marathons, including two Boston Marathons. She is also one of the toughest people I know. So while this is a very scary time in our family, I know that she will endure and beat breast cancer, and be back to running and racing past me soon.
Thankfully, due to recent advancements in the treatment of breast cancer she has more options in fighting this disease than ever before. The prognosis for breast cancer is better now than it was twenty years ago thanks to groups like this that help fund new research.
What better way to celebrate my mom than by running. I will be running the Indianapolis Monumental Marathon on November 5, 2011 and raising money to benefit the 262 with Donna. Please donate to help fund research into new treatment methods and to help support those with breast cancer.
100% of your donation will go to fund groundbreaking breast cancer research at Mayo Clinic and to support the critical needs of those with breast cancer. Together, we will finish breast cancer. Learn more about us at www.breastcancermarathon.com and follow us at Facebook.com/26.2withDonna.
