3 more days!

This horrible disease took my mother, Elizabeth (Betty) Whitman. Anyone who knew her can tell you what a strong woman she was. She was so full of life. I honestly did not believe, for a second, that breast cancer would beat her. I totally and completely believed that she would be one of the great success stories and we would celebrate every year, the date that she kicked cancer's ass. Unfortunately, this unrelenting non descriminating disease had other plans for her and our family. On dreary day in December, over 5 years ago, we were faced with a new reality. Life without the true heart of our family.
She was an incredible mother, grandmother, friend, sister, neighbor and co-worker. If she found out you had a problem, she would be the first one there, by your side, to help any way she could. Now it is our turn to be there.
I have been running the Donna for several years now. My first Donna was the Relay the year Mom was diagnosed. Since then, I have done the 1/2 Marathon three times, the Full Marathon once and last year The Booby Trap Challenge consisting of the 10K & 5K on Saturday and the 1/2 marathon on Sunday. Gotta tell you, to date, that has been my favorite. There is nothing like this race, the runners, the spectators and crowd support. I believe one day, through the Donna Foundation, we will beat this and #bethefinish so I keep on running!
This coming year I am doing the FULL Booby Trap Challenge and will again run the 10K and 5K on Saturday, February 10th and the FULL 26.2 MILES on Sunday, February 11th. 2018. Two weeks later I will do the Treasure Chest Challenge and complete the Gasparilla Half.
Can you help me support the Donna Foundation with a donation? To date, The DONNA Foundation has raised more than $4 million towards its vision to finish breast cancer.
Together we can #bethefinish so no other daughters ever have to lose their moms to this disease.
