First Annual Green & White in Central Park
Organized by: Duncan Mendelsohn
Come play softball in Central Park with the NYC camp crew to celebrate the beginning of summer and support this great cause.
In coordination with the Children of Fallen Patriots Foundation and camp’s generosity, our end goal of helping children benefit from spending summers in camp’s supportive setting is going to be realized this summer.
A few kids from the northeast (given the proximity to camp) who have lost a parent in the line of duty will be attending camp for the last three weeks. We couldn't have found a better partner to get this program off the ground. Not only will the kids selected get the opportunity to attend camp, an experience that we were all so fortunate enough to have, but we couldn't think of better candidates to benefit from camp's nurturing environment. Moving forward, and with your support, we hope to continue to give back via a reoccurring scholarship program and other creative ways.
With this great news comes a broader mission to raise money so all of the kids have the proper supplies to be able to enjoy their time in the realm. Our goal for Sunday is to raise $2,500 so we can cover everything from camp t-shirts to toiletries to a baseball glove.
Throughout the summer we will be sponsoring other events in coordination with RH Gives Back, which this year will raise money for the Children of Fallen Patriots Foundation. On July 12th, the senior campers will be completing service projects in the local area, while junior campers will be swimming and running laps to raise money and awareness. Robin Hood looks at this day as a learning experience for all campers. As we all know, it is a privilege to go to camp, not an entitlement. To top the day off, a Navy Seal member from Team 6 will be spending the day at camp talking about his experience serving our country. Robin Hood feels honored and privileged to host such a true gentleman.
Whereas before we were promoting Green & White @ Central Park to help further the cause of the Sun of Victory Foundation, we are now asking for donations to help this specific cause. It is our hope that in light of this news, folks beyond those that are able to attend our event will be inspired to donate. Please note that these donations will not be considered tax deductible, but hopefully next year this will be resolved. We are committed to making our goal come to life and hope you will provide support.
