First Responder Trip to Bangladesh

I've been offered an incredible opportunity to return to Bangladesh with a professor and former trauma surgeon at Tulane. Dr. Jaffe travels to Southeast Asia a couple of times every year to teach first responder and basic life saving classes to large groups of interested people. Many countries in Southeast Asia, particuarly Bangladesh, don't have the type of Emergency Response system that we are used to in the United States and most victims of trauma die at the scene of injury. Dr. Jaffe trains civilians to become first responders so that they can stabalize patients when they are near a car crash or other major accident and can therefore prevent avoidable deaths.

On this trip specifically, we will be traveling to the Asian University for Women, the college in Chittagong, Bangladesh that I worked at after graduating college. We will be teaching Basic Lifesaving classes to the students over the course of a couple of days so that, if necessary, students can apply these skills both in Bangladesh and when they return to their home countries. We will also be traveling to the Police Academy to teach Advanced Trauma Life Support classes.

I am fundraising to cover most if not all of my round trip flight to and from Bangladesh this November. Please don't hesitate to email me if you have any questions or just want to know more about the Asian University for Women for the ATLS/BLS classes that Tulane teaches.
