Hello, As you know the 2012…
Hello,

As you know the 2012 NYC Marathon was cancelled in the aftermath of hurricane Sandy. In addition to the problems caused by the storm, information and details about the cancellation were not provided right away and we were therefore unable to provide any updates to you. Only recently did we receive concrete information as to what would happen to our fundraising efforts and potential participation in the 2013 NYC Marathon.

I am writing to thank you again for your donations to the American Heart Association in support of Team Heartosaurus. Your generosity was very much appreciated and the funds went to a cause that is dear to all of us.

I'm happy to inform you that NYRR announced that they will be permitting us to run this November in the 2013 NYC Marathon. We'll be carrying your spirit throughout the summer during our training and on race day, November 3rd.

Follow the blog and facebook page to keep abreast of our training and be part of the fun. On race day there will be a live video feed on www.heartosaurus.com. You can direct any questions to nycmarathon@heartosaurus.com. Please visit the site if you're interested in reading about past or present developments related to the Marathon:

Hello there my fellow fundraisers!!!

I am a week away from race day and extremely close to my goal!!! I wanted to send a final thank you to all of you for helping me get here. I am thiiiisssssss ----------><----------- closssse to my goal and would not be able to say so if it wasn't for each and everyone of you.

I would have exceeded my pledge amount today if I had not been rained out of my fundraiser!!! I have been awake all night baking every night for the last week and a half and having fundraisers daily all day when I'm not in class & sometimes skipping class to fund raise.

Already a few of you have donated more than once... (& I was so hoping that I would not have to send out this part of my thank you email....) I am reaching out to all of you to see if you could find it in your heart to give just once more simple small donation of $10. I was really hoping that at the end of today's fundraiser I could begin focusing on getting rest for race day! 26.2 miles is a long way to run even for the most advanced runners.

Thank you again for your already overwhelming support!! I & the American Heart Association thank you from the very bottom of our hearts!!

Love to you all!!

I wanted to take the time out to send you all an email to say Thank you once again. I just hit my 50% mark on target funds to raise for the American Heart Association & I could not have done it with out each & everyone of you!!!

Race day is coming up quickly & it will make it that much easier to finish when the going gets tough when I think of everyone backing me & what I'm doing.

Grace & love to you all!!

Stuff About Me:

Hi folks, my new life has grown in response to my abdominal aortic aneurysm, self-diagnosed, and subsequently confirmed by ultrasound, in August 2010. I found this life-threatening aortic defect only two weeks after finishing the Lake Placid Ironman race for the fourth consecutive year, and in my best time so far. The discovery of my aneurysm, and the consequent aortic stent graft placement, scared me to death, so at that time I was focused on reaching out for someone to talk to about my situation. Those days are now, fortunately, behind me and I have overcome fear of stent failure with the help of a number of supportive people with similar issues that I located via my blog, athletewithstent.com. I am now converting my into an information resource for older people, such as boomers, who wish to exercise safely and those trying to get their lives back on track after aortic surgery. I place some emphasis on endurance sports with special reference to health challenges that might cause people to give up on sports and the dream of being an athlete. It is never too late to train, and we can all be athletes in our own way, just for the joy of it. The trick is to develop a balanced exercise philosophy.

I can also be found on Twitter and FaceBook.
