BENEFITING: WILMINTON COASTAL BOXING
To counter the ever increasing struggles with obesity and nutrition throughout our community, WCB is expanding their programs to include community fitness and nutrition. It is time to offer Wilmington a program that teaches sustainable nutrition and physical fitness. Wilmington Coastal Boxing, a non-profit organization, has been a positive outlet in the community providing children and adults a safe place to work out and train. Boxing is a fun way to get in shape and learn discipline while provide a productive outlet for energy. It also positions WCB as a natural location for families to come for fitness and nutritional programs. By capitalizing on the experience of the coaches and trainers as well as additional professionals ready step in and help, WCB is ready to expand.
The expansion plans for WCB include significantly improved fitness equipment. Not only will the program need to update it's current 'weight room' but it needs to provide a variety of modern equipment to meet the communities needs. The needed equipment includes stationary bikes, medicine balls, yoga mats, monkey bars (fun and fit!), a fitness obstacle course, weights, bands, ropes, tires, and more.
The nutritional program will need to build out a classroom, acquire course materials, and distribute community handouts. WCB will schedule community training classes and family fun days (great way to entertain and teach). Courses will need to purchase produce to demonstrate healthy eating habits and preparation methods that save time, money, and feed our bodies.
We ask that you help contribute to this worthy cause to bring Fitness and Nutrition to downtown Wilmington, NC. $10,000 won't fully fund the program but it is a start. What we are asking for is help with the first steps because we believe no community should be left without the resources to be healthy, strong, and together.
