BENEFITING: CROATIAN RELIEF SERVICES INC
So many of you were so wonderfully generous back in 2012 when you helped Alenna and me raise almost $9000 in total for The Cardinal Stepinac Children's Home, an orphanage in Bon Repos, Haiti (See the story here: https://www.crowdrise.com/katalennaforhaiti/fundraiser/katalenna).
And now we are asking for your help again as Hurricane Matthew, the first Category 4 hurricane to hit Haiti since Cleo in 1964, has caused widespread devastation on the island and hundreds of have been killed. Not only is there great concern about another cholera epidemic, this natural disaster has exacerbated the suffering of so many communities which live in abject poverty.
Croatian Relief Services (CRS) is a well established humanitarian non-profit run by a Fr. Giordano Belanich, and CRS is currently asking for donations to help the victims of Hurricane Matthew in Haiti. As a reminder, Croatian Relief Services has been providing food, shelter, education, and love for the abandoned and orphaned children of Haiti for the past six years. Currently, with the help of the Sisters Servant of the Infant Jesus, CRS serves 51 children in Bon Repos and provides emergency responses elsewhere on the island as needed.
The donations will specifically be used for:
1. Jérémie, Haiti: Repairs on the home for elderly in Marfranc, a village near Jérémie, which has been severely hit by Hurricane Matthew. The home houses 89 abandoned elderly people and is run by two Haitian nuns, Sister François and Sister Ghislaine.
2. Bon Repos, Haiti: The Sister Servants of the Infant Jesus, who run the orphanage in Bon Repos, will be providing non-perishable food, tarps, tents, ORS (oral rehydration salts), painkillers, and vitamins for the victims of the hurricane in the zone surrounding the The Cardinal Stepinac Children's Home.
Thank you! Mesi!
