Malawi has been devastated by recent flooding and more rain is on the way. Over 160,000 families have lost their homes, belongings, and their livelihood. Residents need basic necessities such as food, clothes, blankets, medical aid, plastic sheeting, coal, mosquito nets, pots and utensils, and more.
I'm leaving tomorrow to work with MSF providing direct medical aid in Nsanje, one of the hardest hit regions. Many villages however remain without assistance. Together with a Blantyre resident, we have located a village in urgent need.
Here's how you can help:
I have a direct, trustworthy contact to a village of 186 displaced families. This is the village of Mkhumba, Phalombe district. They fled their damaged homes to find shelter at a church building of Bethel Free Church.
These villagers have not yet received sufficient aid. They lack and urgently need food, utensils, plastic sheeting, blankets, coal, and clean water.
Your donation goes straight to my US bank account. I will use 100% of the money I receive to purchase supplies here in Blantyre, Malawi at the best prices I can find and deliver them straight to Mkhumba to the people who need your help. I have reliable contacts there who will ensure that noone skims off the supplies for their own personal use if they are not the target recipients.
If miraculously we are able to supply the needs of these 189 families, I will begin directing the assistance to additional locations.
Please note that your donation is incredibly important. I am not a 501c3 and therefore cannot provide you with tax deduction but I hope this won't deter you from giving generously.
