THE STORY:

ARMY RANGER LEAD THE WAY FUND wrote -

The Members of the Boys Lacrosse Team at Chaminade High School, Mineola, NY; Class of 2017 are joining forces with the Lead the Way Fund in honor of the late Sgt. James (Jimmy) J. Regan, Chaminade High School Class of 1998 Army Ranger Lead The Way Fund was created to honor the life and spirit of SGT James J. Regan. Jimmy had an enormous love and passion for the game of Lacrosse and was a good friend of many in the Long Island lacrosse community. As a result of Jimmy’s academic record and his All-American achievement on the lacrosse field at Chaminade High School, Jimmy was recruited by Duke University on a lacrosse scholarship. While there he led the Duke team to two ACC championships. He graduated with a degree in economics and was poised on the brink of a happy and fulfilling life when he answered the call to defend his country.

Tragically, Jimmy was killed in February 2007, on his 4th Tour of Duty, while on a Mission to capture a High Valued Target in Iraq. Lead the Way Fund, is a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting U.S. Army Rangers who have been injured, disabled or are currently serving in harm’s way around the world.

The sole mission of Army Ranger Lead The Way Fund is to provide needed financial assistance, for spouses and children of deceased, disabled or active duty Rangers with assistance for health and wellness programs or other financial services vital to the family’s well-being, beyond what the government can provide to Jimmy’s Brothers, the men and families of our elite Special Operations 75th Ranger Regiment. These men continue to fight the War on Terror every day and put their lives on the line to keep us safe.

Jimmy embodied everything there was about being a Chaminade Man and that is something that we all aspire to achieve. Each lacrosse season the Freshman, JV and Varsity lacrosse teams and coaches choose one player to wear Jimmy’s number 19 during the season as a sign of leadership, spirit and, academic prowess. It is without a doubt the greatest honor anyone of us could have.

This is the second year our team will play in the Lake Placid Summit Classic to support the Lead the Way Fund. Last year we raised $10,395. This year our goal is to raise at least $12,000.00 in Jimmy’s memory. The tournament will take place in Lake Placid, New York from August 1-7, 2016. Donating through this website is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to support our fundraising efforts. Many thanks for your support. Please don't forget to forward this to anyone who you think might want to donate too!
