BENEFITING: FLYING KITES
EVENT DATE: Jul 05, 2014
Anyone who knows me knows that I like a challenge.
My next challenge is something that I am incredibly excited about. This next challenge is a call to action. It’s an adventure. It’s changing lives.
Flying Kites is an amazing organization that dedicates keeping children who are orphaned with their extended family network within their community, while providing much needed nutrition and education.
I believe in donating time and money in events that support a good cause. I have done several events such as the Race for the Cure, Denver Heart Walk, and the March of Dimes Volleyball Tournament; but the time and money that I am going to be donating to Flying Kites is special – this time, I’m going to be part of the good cause. This trip allows us to spend four days with the children and see how the money we raised together is spent. We will get to explore the community, spend time with the kids and see the school. This will be a wonderfully humbling experience and I don’t doubt that this experience will be as beneficial for my continued growth as it will be for these children.
After our time in Njabini at the School, we will leave to start our five day summit to Mt Kilimanjaro, which will allow me to stand on the highest point in Africa, over 19,000 feet! I conquered Mt Elbert this summer, which is the 2nd highest peak in the continental US. I figure it's time to climb the highest peak in the African continent, not to mention the tallest free-standing mountain in the world. I've got this!! This will be a different type of challenge . . . a physically demanding adventure that will push my body and inspire my heart!
Thank you all for your love and support. Also, thank you in advance for the donations!! Please send this info to anyone you can think of who would like to donate. I would greatly appreciate it! :)
