BENEFITING: Foodstock Nj
EVENT DATE: Oct 15, 2016
My name is Maura Swisher and I have been a Mount Sinai employee for a little over a year now working as a Business Analyst in the Department of Psychiatry. I am also an active member of Mount Sinai Rising Professionals which has helped me grow both professionally and personally while meeting some truly great and hardworking people along the way.
I currently live right outside of New York City but was born and raised in Freehold, New Jersey where my family still resides. Back in 2010, my mother and I were volunteering at a local food bank and saw that there was not enough food to fill the grocery bags to give to those less fortunate. Knowing that people were depending on these bags to put food on their tables for their families, we decided to do something help change that. That year and every year since, my family along with numerous other community members have put countless hours into hosting an annual food drive/music festival like no other. This event was affectionately named "Foodstock".
Since its start 6 years ago, Foodstock has raised over 170,000 pounds of food and donated over $70,000 to local food banks and people in need. In order to help spread the word, I wanted to reach out to you, my fellow colleagues, for your support. Any and every donation counts in the fight against hunger.
If you are interested in attending the event, it will be held in Freehold, NJ from 1pm-7pm at Freehold Independent Firehouse #1 on Saturday Oct. 15th.
*Foodstock is a certified 501(3)(c) organization in which all donations will be tax deductible to the extent allowed by law.
