Hello my friends!!
Thank you for visiting this page. This is my first time organizing a fundraiser, it is a very meaningful and personal project, and I hope you can help out. Here is the background story:
My friend Javi and I are going to the Solomon Islands for 3 months. Javi has been going to the Solomon Islands for the past 2 summers helping them with everything from teaching the locals how to screen print T shirts to sell in the markets, organizing tournaments and getting uniforms for their soccer teams, to raising money for water tanks and solar panels for the village. This year, besides continuing with what he has left off from last year, one of our biggest goals is to travel up north to Fo'ondo and get a water tank (possibly toilets?) for their village.
Fo'ondo is a place with a very small population. It is north of Malaita, in the country of Solomon Islands. Fo'ondo is so remote that if you try to Google "Fo'ondo" pretty much all that comes up is their weather report. As you can imagine, life on Fo'ondo is very basic, no running water or electricity, no toilets, and what is internet? They have very little resources, it would really help them a lot to be able to store rain water close to the village. Just so you can get a better idea on where does the money go, here is the breakdown:
(a) 1bag cement = $15 x 5bags = $75
(b) Pipes pipes and more pipes = $585
(c) 1 water tank 800gallons = $1,265+shipping cost = $350
(d) Labour cost for the tank = $210
TOTAL = 2,485
I have never met anyone who would actually fly into a village and does whatever it is in his power to help the people. Javi's stories moved me to want to do my part, and I am just really proud to have a friend like him. Check out videos from Javi's past 2 trips to get a better idea of life on the Solomon Islands (sorry it's mostly in Spanish as Javi is a Spaniard).
Thank you again for visiting!!
