I will be running in my Fire Dept. turnout in memory of two men that paid the ultimate sacrifice on Sept. 11.
Kevin Smith was a firefighter in Hazmat Co. #1 who lost his life serving the great city of New York on September 11th. He was a former Marine and member of the East Farmingdale Volunteer Fire Company. A friend of my father and my brothers and sisters of East Farmingdale.
Welles Crowther worked at a financial firm in the World Trade Center and was a former volunteer firefighter in Upper Nyack NY. When the terrorist attack occurred, Welles' firefighter instincts took over and he sprung into action alongside members of the FDNY and emergency service to aid in the rescue efforts. A civilian hero, known as the man in the red bandana, whom I find a great deal in common with.
The mission of our Foundation is to honor the sacrifice of firefighter Stephen Siller who laid down his life to save others on September 11, 2001. We also honor our military and first responders who continue to make the supreme sacrifice of life and limb for our country. I will be running in my Fire Dept. turnout in memory of two men that paid the ultimate sacrifice on Sept. 11.
