BENEFITING: THE NEW ENGLAND CENTER FOR CHILDREN INC
EVENT DATE: Nov 02, 2014
Update: I did it!!I actually ran the marathon and I cannot believe I finished it. I am so proud about it. Your tremendous support carried me through the finish line of the marathon and you all came together to help me go past my fundraising goal too!! I am overwhelmed with gratitude and feel very blessed. I feel more energized to continue on my journey with Aditya now knowing that I continue to have all of your support and well wishes with me.
I was not sure I would make it through the training and actually run the NYC Marathon in 2014. Well - here I am now and ready to run in a few hours - on Nov. 2nd!!
As most of you know, Aditya, my older son is now 18 yrs old and it has been a long journey with Autism for us since he was diagnosed when he was almost 4 yrs old. Professionally I thought I knew something about Autism, but it has been a very humbling and continuously learning process being the mother of a child with Autism. The knowledge I had was grossly inadequate to deal with everything that has come our way being the parents of Aditya.
Aditya has been a student at New England Center for Children for the past several years. The school has made a big difference in our lives in taking care of Aditya in every way possible. We could not have asked for a better school for him. NECC is a great non profit autism education center dedicated to transforming the lives of children with autism and their families through education, research and technology. Their website is http://www.necc.org It is the 'harvard' for autism education!
I would like to dedicate this run to all the individuals who work with children like Aditya and the funds raised here will go to New England Center for Children. Please support me in my endeavor with whatever your heart tells you to do. Thanks a lot for all your support. Wish me luck! I will need every bit of your well wishes and support to take me through to the finish line! Both for this marathon next month and in my continued journey with Aditya.....
