Forget-Me-Not is a benefit music series in the Nashville area dedicated to raising money & awareness for both Alzheimer's disease and MS.  Started in 2006, the benefit series continues to build momentum within Nashville as we prepare for the next Forget-Me-Not benefit on October 20, 2010 at the Country Music Hall of Fame. Artists appearing are Blessid Union Unplugged (lead singer and bassist of Blessid Union of Souls), MCA artist Mallary Hope, Lofton Creek Records recording artist Gwen Sebastian, Nine North Records recording artists Due West, Alana Grace, Kree Harrison, and more to be announced.

In 2006, I created Forget-Me-Not  in memory of my dad, Charles E. Majors, who I lost to Alzheimer's that same year.  It began solely to raise funds and awareness benefiting individuals with Alzheimer's disease.  However, within the last year, has been expanded to include MS as a result of my own diagnosis with MS this past May 2009.  I am determined to heighten the awareness of both of these incurable diseases in Nashville and the surrounding areas by hosting these benefit shows.

All proceeds will be shared equally by the local chapter of the MS Society and Abe's Garden.  Both are 501(c)(3) non-profit organizations.  While the MS Society is well-known, I know that Abe's Garden is not.  Abe's Garden's goal is to establish a state of the art Alzheimer's facility in partnership with Vanderbilt University Medical Center on the campus of Park Manor senior independent living apartments. Abe's Garden will break ground this summer on a 16 bed assisted living center, and later this year on an evidence-based day care center for individuals with Alzheimer's and other age-related dementias  Upon completion of the additional phases, Abe's Garden will have LEED-certified, programmatically designed neighborhoods, interactive gardens and even a 3-acre park. Staff will participate in continual quality improvement training, and utilize a new care model designed specifically for this population.   Abe's Garden was founded in memory of Abram C. “Abe” Shmerling M.D., by his family and friends, and seeks to improve the lives of people suffering from this disease and their families throughout the United States.
