The mission of Forgotten Harvest is to relieve hunger in the Detroit metropolitian community by rescuing surplus, prepared and perishable food and donating it to emergency food providers.
We do this by gathering nutritious food from more than 450 donors, including farmers, wholesale distributors, dairies, restaurants and grocery stores. We then deliver this fresh food to our network of 260 partner food pantries, shelters, soup kitchens and mobile pantry sites. All food is provided absolutely free of charge. This year we will provide a record 45 million meals to relieve hunger in our community – food that would otherwise go to waste.
