BENEFITING: For Jakes Sake - NOT ACTIVE
ORGANIZER: For Jakes Sake - NOT ACTIVE
After a two year break, I’ve decided to get back out there and will be running in this year's TCS New York City Marathon in support of ‘For Jake’s Sake”, a nonprofit organization founded by my friend Dawn, whose son, Jake, was diagnosed with Autism at 20 months of age.
'For Jake's Sake' provides funding for families of children with Autism in need of financial assistance. Children with Autism need special services and therapies, but these come with a hefty price tag that many families cannot afford. 'For Jake's Sake' works to ensure that no family in need is turned away, but relies strictly on donations to support its efforts. All of the money raised goes directly to the families who apply for assistance.
My family, like so many others, knows all too well the costs associated with Autism. My nephew Cole has Autism and has gone through early intervention treatments, occupational therapy (OT), speech therapy (ST) as well as countless other treatments and therapies, the cost of which would make you cringe. Now 12, Cole still undergoes therapies that continue to improve his developmental growth and quality of life. Thankfully, my sister and her husband have been able to afford to get Cole the treatment he needs but not every family is so lucky.
I am incredibly honored to run to support such an amazing charity, to give families like Dawn’s and my sister’s a chance to ensure their kids get the treatments that are so crucial to ensuring they have an opportunity for a great future.
Please consider donating to this amazing charity by making a tax-deductible donation. No donation is too small and every dollar is very much appreciated!! Donating through this website is simple, fast and totally secure, and is the most efficient way to support my fundraising efforts.
