For my Family
Organized by: Jessica McClain
So here's our story. April 10th, 2015 I gave birth to our son. His dad and I both work full time jobs, and were "told" that we would be given 6 weeks off, paid at 60% of our pay. Shortly after our son was born my mom started to lose her fight with cancer. Within a month of my first son being born, my mom passed away. I have been lost without my mom. We then found out that the company my fiancé worked for sent him a letter saying that he was denied for the pay we were waiting for. Basically a month without pay. This put us at least 1 month behind on all of our bills, including rent for the house we have been living in for over a year. After that, he started a new job and things were starting to fall into place. I went back to work, but here is another issue, we only have one car. My car's transmission went out, and I was stuck trying to find a ride to our sitter's house, and then to work. The sitter lives 30 minutes west of us, and I work 45 minutes from the sitter. The first week, I tried really hard to find people to carpool with and my fiancé and I would go pick up our son. I was away from him for more than 14 hours a day. The second week back to work, I could not find any rides to work or he sitters. I was stuck at home. Not only could I not find rides to and from work, but the money we were using in gas, just to get our son to the sitter was more than I was making in a day. I had to request more time off work, this time not being paid at all. And this is where we stand now. 2 months back on rent, getting ready to be evicted. Water, power and phone are calling me daily and threatening to be turned off. Internet and cable has already been shut off and no means to turn it back on. If we can get your help that would be great. I will be using any money raised to pay all he bills, put food on the table, and gas in the car. I do not expect to get my car fixed but that is in the plans also. Thank you for your support in trying to get back on our feet.
