I am excited to be training for and participating in the 2012 ING NYC Marathon with my friend David Kochman and the rest of the NY based team. Our team is helping raise money for The Fortune Society (described below). As this will likely be a "once in a lifetime" event for me, I would be grateful for whatever encouragement you wish to provide -- donations to the charity, words of wisdom or otherwise.
If you are able to donate, click the big DONATE button -- any amount is greatly appreciated. It will have the added benefit of making sure I get out of bed for my early morning training runs in the Arizona heat.
The Fortune Society is a nonprofit social service and advocacy organization, founded in 1967, whose mission is to support successful reentry from prison and promote alternatives to incarceration, thus strengthening the fabric of our communities.
Fortune works to create a world where all who are incarcerated or formerly incarcerated can become positive, contributing members of society. We do this through a holistic, one-stop model of service provision, based on more than 40 years of experience working with people with criminal records. We’ve found that without a solid foundation in core skill areas, too many of these individuals resort to the self-destructive choices that result in crime and incarceration. Our continuum of care, informed and implemented by professionals with cultural backgrounds and life experiences similar to those of our clients, helps ensure their success.
