I will be running in the 2015 San Francisco Marathon and with each step of the way I will be thinking of my local community in Morocco. The people in my country are both proud and shy and would try to make ends meet before asking for help, but in fact, the people of these local Middle and High Atlas communities deperately need better drinking water and equipment for sustainable purified drinking water.
The 1040 Initiative is working in Morocco to bring the means of safe drinking water to the local people of the Middle and High Atlas, where finding clean drinking water poses a daily challange.
This initiative works to bring water filters to local communities so they can collect and purify rainwater. This eases the burden of women who walk for hours just to find the only drinking water available to them, water which is still contaminated.
My goal is to raise money for this valuable initiatve to be used in my home country of Morocco. I will be able to see the intitiave in progress and hopefully attend one of the action projects here in Morocco.
