BENEFITING: ALL WAYS UP FOUNDATION
EVENT DATE: Dec 10, 2012
Foundation for Second Chances (FFSC) is a community-based organization that utilizes hands-on education, mentoring, health awareness, and community service to maximize the potential of youths.
FFSC is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that helps thousands of youths in South Los Angeles who come from low-income families, single parents, broken homes, and incarcerated parents. FFSC does this through programs that provide quality education, nutritious food and exercise, a safe and nurturing environment, and the chance to give back to their community. Through these programs, today’s less-fortunate youths can build self-confidence, respect and learn fundamental skills that will help them succeed in life.
I had the pleasure of speaking with the FFSC program director who expressed her belief in a more holistic approach to educating and mentoring children. I also had the opportunity to drop in on one of the after school programs at a local elementary school and was encouraged by what I saw – happy kids getting help with their homework, enjoying story time and playing together in the school yard.
Statistics have shown that kids are five times more likely to graduate if they have a meaningful relationship with an adult. And did you know that youth are at greater risk of getting involved in crime and drug abuse between 3 p.m. and 6 p.m.? This is when Foundation For Second Chances steps in!
In our fast-paced society, every second counts! Please take a second to donate.
Also, please forward this to your friends, family and co-workers. It can’t hurt, and even the smallest donation can go a long way!
- All donations are tax-deductible
- Your donation will be matched by the Perlman Foundation
- Please donate by December 10th
