FOUR TWELVE PROJECT 5000
Organized by: Charles Clemons
It takes the power of many to end childhood hunger: donors who believe in the cause, experts to diagnose the problem and innovate solutions, organizations to pool their resources and expertise, and communities to work together for change. Our Organization Four Twelve Ministry exists to end childhood hunger. It’s the cause upon which we were founded 1 year ago and the one that we continue to fight for each and every day. We know it takes the power of many to end childhood hunger for good. We connect donors, experts, partners, leaders and communities to attack the problem from all angles. We are taking a stand and we will not rest until every child has enough to eat. OUR VISION Create a world where no child goes to bed hungry. OUR MISSION Providing hope and resources for those without life’s essentials. OUR BRAND VALUES Challenge convention: we believe that a future without hungry children is possible. Defend dignity: we believe in treating each child and family in the communities where we work with value and worth. Champion partnership: we believe collaboration is the only way to end childhood hunger. Value every donor: we believe in donors playing an active role in ending childhood hunger. Drive accountability: we believe in making changes when something isn’t working and building on the success when it is. OUR TEAM Four Twelve Ministry is thriving in a new era, marked by Christian values, integrity, resourcefulness, stewardship and transparency. Our dynamic executive leadership is actively engaged to strengthen Four Twelve Ministry impact, extend our reach, maximize our internal capacity, fuel our resource engine and build our brand. ABOUT END HUNGER? It takes the power of many to end family hunger: donors who believe in the cause, experts to diagnose the problem and innovate solutions, organizations to pool their resources and expertise, and communities to work together for change. Right here in America, boys and girls go to bed hungry every night. Poverty and unemployment mean families can’t afford enough food. Together, we can reach children in need across America through our life-changing partnerships. We are looking to feed hungry families all over America. In communities with oppressive poverty, we are looking to bring hope and real help. Four Twelve Ministry wants to give families the chance to learn again, providing backpacks and school supplies to families who can't afford them. And whenever disaster strikes, we're on the ground fast, distributing the aid needed most. Around the world Hunger, disease and poverty try to rob families of there joy. Together, we can save lives by partnering with families in poor communities to build a better tomorrow, And encourage self-sufficiency through developing livelihoods to stop the cycle of poverty and despair. How Can We End Hunger — In Action Working together is the only way to end hunger. Pursue new and better approaches, accelerate the success of our the program, and get food and resources to those who need them most. Friends like you make a difference for Families in America and around the world. Health All kids get sick. But in 2012, 6.6 million children under the age of 5 died (WHO). More than half of these died from a preventable or treatable sickness. A child who doesn’t eat properly is too weak to fight off infection or bounce back from diarrhea. (Malnutrition contributes to 45% of all child deaths.) Others live too far from a health worker to get medicine when they need it. And kids running around in bare feet pick up parasites that can make them weak. Poverty One billion children around the world live in poverty (Global Issues). So many of their families are caught in a cycle: living in poverty brings hunger, and living with hunger prolongs poverty. Most people don’t live in poverty because they want to. They just have no way to get out. A lot of them never finished school, so they can’t read well or earn a living wage. And while most people work very hard, the jobs available to them often don’t pay enough to make a living. Water We all know that we need to drink water to stay alive. But the 783 million people around the world who don’t have safe water will tell you that drinking water isn’t even half of the story (WHO). Dirty water and waste left out in the open expose kids (and adults) to all sorts of infections and parasites. These steal what little nutrients their food offers. And children who already don’t get enough to eat aren’t strong enough to fight these diseases EVERY PERSON HAS A RIGHT TO ADEQUATE FOOD OBTAINED WITH DIGNITY. WE WORK TO PREVENT HUNGER AND MALNUTRITION BY PROVIDING FOOD TO PEOPLE IN NEED TODAY AND BY PROMOTING SOCIAL POLICIES TO ACHIEVE A HUNGER FREE COMMUNITY TOMORROW.
