Our Family Promise Case Manager works with each family to plan their rapid return to independent housing. We help with all the services a family might need, such as: securing housing, employment, job training, and entitlements. We assist families with social service needs, referring them to other organizations as appropriate; and advocate with agencies for families as needed.
Our families are transported each day at 5:30 pm from our day center to a local congregational facility where they are safe, receive a hot evening meal, and spend the night on air matresses. At 5:30 am each morning they are transported back to our day center for showers, help for the adults and the kids catch the bus to their school.
Because of our unique approach of teaming with local congregations we do not put any time limit on how long a family can remain in our shelter program. Yet, on average, over 90% of our families return to independent housing in less than 90 days. We become friends with our families and follow up with them for at least a year to make sure their return to independent living is permanent.
