BENEFITING: Family Rescue
EVENT: Art Van Charity Challenge
THE STORY:
For over 30 years Family Rescue has been dedicated to eliminating domestic violence in the Chicago community by providing comprehensive support services and shelter to victims of domestic violence, particularly abused women and their children; engaging in advocacy to promote future system change; and encouraging prevention through community education.
Family Rescue has four core programs that operate from five main sites:
The Rosenthal Family Lodge (RFL), our flagship site, is an emergency shelter for abused women and their children.
Ridgeland Apartments and Children’s Program (RAP) is a two-year subsidized supportive housing program with an on-site after school program.
The Court Advocacy Program (CAP) supports a victim's attempt to end a violent relationship by gaining access to the criminal justice system and act on behalf of victims and their children, ensuring their safety and rights are protected under the Illinois Domestic Violence Act.
The Community Outreach Program (COR) provides portable domestic violence services where victims gather in the community, as well as on-site counseling services in English and Spanish.
$10 will pay for an employee to answer our crisis line for an hour.
$20 will pay for an emergency cab voucher for a woman fleeing a violent home.
$50 will provide meals for a day for a family at shelter.
$100 will ensure that a traumatized child will receive an hour of therapy.
$250 will provide a night of safe refuge for a family of 4 fleeing violence.
