My father, Frank Feely, was a track star in high school. His nickname was "Bird" not only because he was fast, but he could fly. In fact, Dad used to jump over cars on the streets of Brooklyn, a trick he used to make some money off of unsuspecting spectators who'd bet that he couldn't do it. This is just one of countless stories from my father's life that illustrate the joyous, incredible person he was. On September 11, 2001, Dad was taken from us. Instead of dwelling on his death, however, those who know him best choose to celebrate his life and the amazing impact he had on so many people.
Please join us for our second year participating in the 9/11 Memorial Museum 5k Run/Walk and Family Day. The route begins at Pier 26 and will follow along Battery Park City, with views of One World Trade Center. Immediately following the Run/Walk, participants are welcome to attend Family Day at the corner of Liberty and Greenwich streets, adjacent to the 9/11 Memorial plaza. There will be food trucks, music and activities for kids. While we won't be jumping over any cars (though feel free if that's your thing), we plan to walk and run in honor of my father's memory.
Thanks to the generosity of our supporters last year, we raised over $800 for the 9/11 Memorial Museum. This year, we hope to reach our goal of $1,000.00. If you cannot join us, please consider donating to our cause. All proceeds and donations will help fund the 9/11 Memorial Museum.
