Thank you for coming to our fundraiser event page as part of our Annual Appeal. It has been a year now since Fraternity House, Inc. celebrated 25 years of service to the men and women of San Diego County living with HIV/AIDS. That special anniversary was an opportunity to look back, and to recognize all that we had accomplished over those many years. With that milestone behind us, now it is time
to look ahead.
We began 2014 with great excitement. Looking back was rewarding; but we knew we now needed to look forward, and adapt to the changing face of the epidemic – and a changing funding climate. Great challenges lay ahead, and we needed to take positive steps to meet those challenges.
A major step in 2014 was the hiring of our new Executive Director. Larry Graff came on board this past April, and has quickly become an important part of the Fraternity House family. We are deeply grateful to Molly Henry for getting us through a challenging time as Interim Director, and for staying until Larry was on a steady footing. We are excited at the new energy and spirit of innovation that Larry has brought to the position.
At the same time, 2014 also provided a stark reminder of why our doors remain open. As you know, in the court of public opinion, HIV is a manageable disease. The care and special needs of people living with advanced HIV/AIDS is often overlooked. In fact, this year seven of our residents passed away with dignity – a number we haven’t seen for some time, and sad evidence that we are still on the front lines of this devastating disease.
So we look forward to 2015, with a renewed sense of purpose and a resolve to continue the work we do, as long as there is a need.
Your contribution, in any amount, is critical to helping us meet our goals, and to ensuring that we will still be here to care for the men and women who so greatly need our help. At Fraternity House Inc. our motto is "Keeping Love Alive". With your help, we can keep love alive together.
