Selfless, generous, and loyal. Attributes that might not typically come to mind when describing a lifelong New Yorker, but ones that Freddy exudes in spades. In fact, he calls one his greatest accomplishments the oft overlooked ability to simply be loyal to others and place them before himself.
As for boxing, Freddy is no newbie to the sport and long admired the legendary Arturo Gatti. He’s been training with the incomparable Devon Cormack at Gleason’s for some time now, Devon being the one who actually introduced him to the idea of fighting for charity with Fighters4Life.
Given that charity plays a big role in his life, now more than ever, Freddy jumped at the idea.
He’s particularly drawing to supporting causes that help cancer patients or support finding cures because of his family's history with the disease. His father, his hero, was taken by cancer and his mother, another hero, survived it. Now living cancer free.
Needless to say, he’s especially happy to be supporting Occupy Cancer when he gets in the ring on November 16th.
Perhaps his motto, “never be discouraged” came from watching those closest to him fight cancer. Either way, those words encourage him to always be his best, inside the ring and out.
